The political row has intensified after Delhi Police shifted Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar demanding rights for Ladakh and environmental protection, to Safdarjung Hospital. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, strongly criticized the move, calling it undemocratic and accusing the Modi government of suppressing a peaceful protest. He said no force could stop people from raising critical issues affecting students, including exam paper leaks, the rising cost of education, and increasing student suicides. Meanwhile, Delhi Police maintained that Wangchuk was admitted to the hospital based on medical advice due to his deteriorating health condition. On the other hand, Wangchuk's personal doctor questioned the official medical reports and called for an independent examination.
