Roma, le magie della coppa del mondo di skate all'ombra del Colosseo

Rome is increasingly becoming the capital of skateboarding. The 2026 Rome Skateboarding World Cup officially paved the way for Los Angeles 2028, the first global stage of this year's Olympic qualifiers. The Roman event drew record numbers over the two weeks of competition between Ostia and Colle Oppio. More than 440 athletes participated in both men's and women's categories, hailing from five continents. Over 50 countries participated, with over 630 people in attendance, including teams and officials. "Skateboarding is urban culture," explains Sabatino Aracu, president of World Skate and Skate Italia. "The opportunity to do it in front of the Colosseum allows us to connect the streets of young people with the beauty of such a monument. Our sport is based on knowing how to fall and get back up." The winners were Japan's Sora Shirai in the men's category and Austria's Chloe Covell in the women's category.
