In this video, I compare Macintyre’s version with the evidence presented in Hamish Ross’s family-approved biography, examining the disputed prison-cell recruitment story, claims about sectarianism and sexuality, the portrayal of Mayne as a reckless drunk, and the book’s reliance on myths repeated by David Stirling and earlier writers. I also explain how some of these stories influenced the television series and admit where I previously repeated them in my own videos.
