Should've known better than to take this man at face value. 1.08.05 - "Der" is spelled with two r's. Also, while "the" is closest word you can translate it to, Bruno is not talking in third person as I claim here. The actual linguistics of it goes above my head, but referring to yourself by the definitive article like this is actually fairly normal for people from Bavaria.
