In this relaxing and feel-good slow living vlog I take you through a full day in Germany during an extreme heatwave where indoor temperatures were hitting 36 to 37°C with no air conditioning in sight. I headed to my allotment to harvest fresh vegetables in the mid of summer, picking spinach, butter lettuce and enormous lettuces under the scorching summer sun. In total I harvested 5.5kg of fresh vegetables, that is 12 pounds by myself. Back home I cooked four vegan, plant based cold bento lunch boxes outside to meal prep for the week ahead, making Korean lettuce wraps with doenjang, Japanese cold soba noodles with kimchi and spinach salad, and grilled eggplants with ponzu teriyaki sauce, all bento lunches are chilled and refreshing. A little calm positivity and simple joy brought to a sweltering German summer week through home-grown food and intentional living. There is also a genuinely warm and heartfelt moment near the end about gratitude and finding simple happiness in the small things even when life feels uncomfortable. This channel follows slow living in the German countryside through the eyes of a Hong Kong expat.
