Archive: UW Medicine Stroke Center: Innovators in Care

No one wants to imagine having a stroke. But survival depends on getting the right care within a few hours, and two patients can attest to the expert care provided by UW Medicine. The UW Medicine Stroke Center at Harborview Medical Center is the core of TeleStroke, offering 24 hour consultation and assistance to a network of other medical facilities around the region. Their access to newly developed technology, like the clot retrieval system that extends the window of time available to treat strokes, is introduced by UW Medicine's Dr. Danial Hallam. Further advances in technology and expertise available to the TeleStroke program, including drug therapies and a dedicated neurological pharmacist on staff, are detailed by Dr. Kyra Becker, co-director of the Stroke Center. The University of Washington is committed to ensuring digital accessibility in our services, programs, and activities.
