Why Visibility Matters More Than Performance on a Spyder
When most riders think about safety upgrades, they usually focus on tires, suspension, brakes, or performance modifications. But what if one of the most important safety upgrades for your Can-Am Spyder isn't about what you can see... It's about who can see YOU? In this week's Spyder conversation, I'm diving into what I believe is one of the most overlooked safety upgrades available for any Spyder owner, Rider visibility. After spending time riding my 2025 Can-Am Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky, I came to an important realization. The biggest confidence boost didn't come from horsepower, suspension upgrades, or comfort modifications. It came from knowing that other drivers can see me more clearly, especially during early morning rides, evening rides, and less-than-perfect weather conditions. Many of us assume we're visible on the road. The reality is that drivers are distracted more than ever. Whether it's a quick glance at a phone, navigating traffic, or simply not expecting to see a motorcycle or three-wheeled vehicle, Riders often find themselves asking the same question: "Did they even see me?" In this video, we'll discuss: • Why visibility matters more than most riders realize • Common situations where riders become "invisible" to other motorists • How additional lighting can improve rider confidence • Why this upgrade may provide more real-world safety benefits than some performance modifications • The mindset shift that changed how I think about riding after dark Whether you're a new Spyder owner, considering your first upgrade, or have been riding for years, this is a conversation worth having. I'd love to hear from you: What was the very first thing you did after bringing your Spyder home to make it safer? Was it additional lighting? Better tires? Suspension upgrades? Rider training? Something else entirely? Share your experience in the comments below. Your insight could help another rider make a better decision.
