Financial Independence Is a Psychological Trap

What if financial freedom isn't the finish line you've always imagined? In this episode, we explore the under-explored side of the Financial Independence (FI) movement—from the pitfalls of chasing the “magic number” to the risks of sacrificing the best years of your life to extreme saving. We discuss why many people who have achieved financial freedom face an identity crisis, a loss of purpose, and a sense of social isolation when work is no longer a part of their lives. This episode challenges the idea that early retirement is the ticket to happiness and explores more sustainable alternatives: designing meaningful work, building health, deepening relationships, and using money as a tool to live more freely—not as an end in itself. Because ultimately, true freedom may not be about quitting work, but about having the freedom to choose how you want to live.
