Budgeting 101 for Nonprofits
A budget is a plan of action translating programs or overall operations into monetary terms. It projects expenses and revenues during a specific period, usually a year, or the life of the project. The overall goal is, of course, to achieve maximum fiscal benefit at minimum cost. In addition, well-conceived budgets can help avoid "unexpected" financial problems and provide the board with a meaningful tool monitor and control the organization’s financial activities. This compact one-hour free "webshop" provides an overview of general budgeting principles and a few smart practices to implement to make sure your nonprofit arts organization is using its resources effectively and preparing for the unexpected.
