MILLEROVO Millerovo is a city in the Rostov Oblast of Russia, the administrative center of the Millerovsky District and the Millerovsky Urban Settlement. Population: 34,246 (2025). In 2018, it was awarded the honorary title of "City of Military Valor" by the Rostov Oblast. It was founded in 1786 as a farmstead on the estate of the German army sergeant major Ivan Miller, who received vacant lands near the Glubokaya River by decree of Empress Catherine II of February 14, 1786. The farmstead was part of the Don Host Oblast. In 1835, the Don Host lands were divided into seven administrative districts, or "headquarters." The farmstead was assigned to the Donetsk Okrug (Kamenskaya stanitsa). Millerovo on the map of the Catherine the Great Railway. 1916 At the end of the 19th century, the Rostov-Voronezh-Kozlovskaya Railway passed through Millerovo, making the village an important railway junction with the Yekaterininskaya Railway. A significant portion of agricultural products arriving from the upper Don and Ukrainian regions for shipment to Russia's central provinces were stored and processed here. Grain storage facilities and an elevator were established. Mills, a large oil mill, and an iron foundry were built. In 1903, the first Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in Millerovo (no longer extant). Tourist attractions Voloshinskaya Mountain (paragliders, hang gliders). It is the administrative center of the Bogucharsky District. It forms the urban settlement of Boguchar. Since 2002, the city has been listed as a historical city of Russia. It is a place of military valor and belongs to the historical region of Slobozhanshchina. Population ↘ 14,165 (2025) The southernmost city in the region. It is located on the Bogucharka River, 6 km from its confluence with the Don, 232 km from Voronezh. The urban settlement of Boguchar is part of the Bogucharsky Municipal District of the Voronezh Region and is located in the south of the Voronezh Region, 230 km from the city of Voronezh, bordering the Rostov Region. The administrative center of the settlement is Boguchar, which is also the administrative center of the Bogucharsky Municipal District. The site occupied by the city, along with a significant portion of the land along the Bogucharka River, was previously known as the Boguchar Yurt, and the river valley remained virtually uninhabited until 1716, when approximately two hundred Cherkassians from the Ostrogozhsk Regiment were settled along the Tolucheyev and Boguchar Rivers. A year later (1717), they were joined by several hundred more Cossacks from the same regiment, transferred from Livny, Zemlyansk, Chernavsk, Yendovishche, and other towns. In 1765, with the introduction of a new civil system for the governance of the village residents, the Bogucharskaya village became part of the Ostrogozhsk Province of the Slobodsko-Ukrainian Governorate. When the Voronezh Viceroyalty was established in 1779, consisting of 16 districts, including Boguchar, this village was renamed a district town. From January 4, 1890 to January 17, 1894, Mikhail Pavlovich Solomin served as mayor, elected by the Duma. From January 5, 1894, he became director of the Boguchar City Public Bank. Until the early 20th century, one of the main occupations of Boguchar residents was the purchase of cattle in the Don Host Oblast and its resale in major capital cities.
