RCCB is used to protect us from electrocution due to ground faults. 2. Fuse or MCB do not protect us from ground faults, as ground fault through us is sensed as load by fuse and mcb. 3. Fuse or MCB protects wiring and appliances from short-circuit and over load. 4. Earthing protects us from leakages in metal body appliances which opens fuse or MCB and thus protects us from electrocution. 5. RCCB does not protect us from direct contact between phases or phase and neutral. 6. RCCB should not be used alone,it has to be backed up with MCB. 7. The MCB amps rating and RCCB amps rating should be same. 8. RCBO is MCB + RCCB combo. 9. RCCB working should be tested with the test button atleast once a month. 10. 30mA RCCB is used for domestic purposes. 11. RCCB is available in 2 pole and 4 pole configuration. 12. 2 pole RCCB is used for single phase supply. 13. 4 pole RCCB can be used for single phase, 3 phase 4 wire and 3 phase 3 wire circuits. 14. For single phase, use 1st pole for phase, 2nd & 3rd dummy and 4th pole for neutral. 15. For 3 phase 3 wire circuit, the 4th pole supply side should be linked with any one phase for proper working. It should not be left dummy. 16. RCCB with advanced neutral fault protection are available. 17. If RCCB trips, it should not be byepassed, the fault should be identified and corrected.
