Blavand 2023

Blåvand [ˈblɔvanʔ] is a Danish North Sea resort in the municipality of Varde. The town has fewer than 200 inhabitants, but more than 2,000 vacation homes. The tip of Blåvands Huk is the westernmost point of Jutland. The Blåvandshuk Fyr lighthouse is located here. It rises 39 m above the surrounding dunes and is a much-visited vantage point. The view stretches as far as Vejers Strand in the north and Esbjerg in the south. It was built in 1900 and has been restored in recent years. The vacation area around Blåvand offers 40 km of sandy beaches. Protected by the large sandbanks of the Horns Rev, which extends up to 20 km into the North Sea, Hvidbjerg Strand is ideal for swimming and windsurfing. The first bathing jetty on the Danish west coast was built here in 2015[2]. To the north is the Kallesmærsk Hede military and nature reserve, which many migratory birds visit to rest. The town center of Blåvand consists mainly of small stores selling Danish fashion and decorative items, restaurants and a large food market in the town center. As on the entire west coast of Denmark, there are numerous well-preserved bunkers of the Atlantic Wall from the Second World War in the region around Blåvand. Construction of the bunker complex was started in 1944 by soldiers of the German navy, forced laborers and Danish companies, but the complex was never completed. The bunkers are also used for climbing.[5][6] The British artist Bill Woodrow made mule sculptures from some of them in 1995.
