Por que a modernidade é tão inquietante? | Eles queriam mais Deus - Episódio 19

They wanted more God. This is one of the great ironies of history: a movement born from a sincere desire to purify faith ended up helping to build the conditions for a world where faith would become increasingly fragile. In the 16th century, reformers looked at a religion surrounded by relics, processions, images, and rituals and asked an uncomfortable question: how much of this really brings us closer to God? Their answer was radical. It was necessary to remove everything that seemed to obscure the divine presence. Fewer intermediaries. Less dependence on objects and places. More direct encounter with God. But every transformation has consequences that no one foresees. By dismantling a world saturated with symbols, presences, and spiritual meanings, something else was also being dismantled: the way people perceived the sacred scattered throughout reality itself. The result was not a world without faith. It was a world where faith became increasingly dependent on the individual. In this episode, we explore the paradox of a deeply religious movement that unintentionally planted some of the seeds of the secular world we live in today.
