The literary composition of Revelation shows that the plagues will occur after the final call to repentance (the proclamation of the three angels' messages in Revelation 14:6-12) and after the sealing of the saints (Revelation 7:1-4). God's end-time people are called to separate themselves from "Babylon" and unite with Christ, "so that you will not share in her sins and receive her plagues" (Revelation 18:4). Here we have a parallel with the episode of the ten plagues that fell on Egypt.
