Amanda Rose & Raqs Sharki Movement Collective LVBDI 2013 - Yearning

www.AmandaRoseDance.com Choreographed and Staged by Amanda Rose Song: Yearning by Raul Fernando Videography by www.CandlelightProductions.com In the wake of my mother's passing, I took a physical and staging concept for the song 'Yearning' and added a new emotional aspect behind it. There are 3 groups of 4 dancers each, Violins, Ouds and Tablas and one Lead Violin dancer. Each group only dances to melody or accents presented by their instrument and if their instrument is not present they fall back into the tabla line. Each instrument and group is representative of something different, violins represent friends and friendship in the time of grieving, the ouds represent grandmothers, or a more mature soothing woman's approach. The tablas represent life, consistency and the inability to stop living and the inevitability of having to more forward even through pain and the lead violin is going through the grieving and loss process.
