Why You're Still Not Getting Hired
A few months ago I gave a talk at ADC about positioning, professional presentation and the way creatives frame themselves professionally. Following that talk, as well as some of my other videos, people began reaching out asking for portfolio reviews, career advice and feedback on why they were struggling to land better work. After enough of those conversations, I began noticing the same handful of mistakes appearing repeatedly. Often from people who were clearly talented, serious and technically capable, yet undermining themselves long before the quality of their work was even considered. This video attempts to condense those patterns into five recurring mistakes I see creative freelancers make over and over again. We discuss: • Direction vs motion • Generic outreach • Passive self-improvement • Competence abundance • Presentation and authorship • Why technically good work is often forgotten If any of this resonates with you, feel free to leave a comment or reach out directly.
