A second Chance

In Nakuru, thousands leave prison each year, but freedom doesn’t always mean a fresh start. This documentary explores the harsh reality of reintegration, where ex-offenders return to communities that are often unwilling to accept them. With no jobs, limited support, and deep social stigma, many are pushed back into the very cycle they’re trying to escape. But Reshape is working to change that. Founded by Margaret Kimani and Asumpta Kivindo, this community-based organization is redefining what second chances look like. From mentorship inside prisons to structured reintegration programs after release, Reshape walks alongside individuals every step of the way. Through powerful, real-life stories, including Ruth’s deeply moving journey, we uncover the human side of justice, healing, and redemption. We also witness the impact of partnerships, such as the one with Kevin Macharia and Brothers Keeper, that create pathways to dignity through work and community.
