Traveling with My Harpsicle

Planning a vacation as a harpist can feel overwhelming, but traveling with a small harp like the Harpsicle doesn't have to be! In today’s video, I’m taking you along on my 10-day trip from snowy Massachusetts to sunny Walt Disney World in Florida. I’ll show you exactly how I pack my 6lb Harpsicle for air travel, the gear I use to make practicing in a hotel room easy (including my favorite tablet setup for sheet music), and the honest "pitfalls" I encountered while trying to stay comfortable. Whether you're a beginner looking to avoid muscle strain while traveling or a "Disney Adult" seeking a low-key way to enjoy the parks, I hope these tips help you feel more confident bringing your music on your next adventure. I'll also ahre a short clip of "Beauty and the Beast" and a tour of my practice space at the Wilderness Lodge! MUSIC PLAYED IN THIS VIDEO: Beltane - arr. by Ailie Robertson Beauty and the Beast - arr. by Christy-Lyn Dose The pieces I play here are not intended to be perfect examples of how to play the harp, but rather my desire to share beautiful harp arrangements for you to hear and maybe even to play! What kind of harp do you use for traveling? Thank you for all you share with us! WHAT THIS CHANNEL IS ABOUT: I'm Kathy Lowe. I started to learn to play the harp at age 68. Join me and other adults, especially those 60 and over, for encouragement, ideas and resources for anyone learning, or thinking about learning, to play the harp. My main harp is a 34-string Triplett Catalina, built for me in 2023. My newest harp is a 29-string Stoney End Loralea double strung, purchsed in 2025. For ease of transporting, I have a 26-string Rees Harpsicle (Flatsicle model).
