53 KM of Scenic Adventure | Naturally L&A Gravel Ride 2026
53 KM of Scenic Adventure | Naturally L&A Gravel Ride 2026 Welcome to our adventure on the 2026 Naturally L&A Gravel Ride, one of Eastern Ontario's most popular cycling events. Today we're taking on the 53-kilometre route through some of the most beautiful countryside in Lennox and Addington County. Our ride begins in the historic village of Centreville, located north of Napanee and west of Kingston. This region is known for its quiet rural roads, rolling farmland, forests, wetlands, and friendly small communities. The Naturally L&A Gravel Ride attracts cyclists from across Ontario who come to experience a unique combination of scenic landscapes, excellent organization, and outstanding hospitality. One of the great things about this event is that riders can choose from several route options depending on their fitness level and experience. We selected the 53-kilometre route, which offers a perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment. It's long enough to feel like an accomplishment while remaining accessible to recreational cyclists. Before participating in a gravel ride like this, preparation is important. A properly maintained bicycle, a helmet, water bottles, spare tubes, a pump, and basic repair tools are all highly recommended. Gravel roads can be rougher than paved roads, so slightly wider tires and lower tire pressures often provide a more comfortable ride and better traction. The weather today is overcast, which actually makes for excellent cycling conditions. Cooler temperatures help prevent overheating and allow riders to enjoy the route comfortably. Throughout the day we encountered a mix of gravel roads, quiet backroads, and scenic rural landscapes. As we leave Centreville, the route takes us through a collection of small rural communities including Croydon, Tamworth, and Enterprise. Each of these communities has its own unique character and history. Tamworth serves as one of the area's larger villages and is situated near Beaver Lake. The community traces its roots back to the early 1800s and remains a hub for agriculture and outdoor recreation. Cyclists passing through Tamworth enjoy beautiful views of rolling farmland, historic buildings, and nearby waterways. Enterprise is another charming rural village along the route. Surrounded by forests and farmland, it provides a glimpse into the quiet pace of life that makes this region such an attractive cycling destination. One of the highlights of the Naturally L&A Gravel Ride is the scenery. Along the route you'll pass working farms, open fields, forests, streams, marshlands, and picturesque country roads. Every turn seems to reveal another beautiful view. During the ride we crossed small bridges, followed winding roads, and enjoyed countless opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of Eastern Ontario. The forests along the route provide welcome shade and are home to a variety of wildlife. Bird watchers may spot songbirds, hawks, herons, and waterfowl, while marsh areas support diverse ecosystems filled with plants and wildlife. The gravel roads themselves are part of what makes this ride special. Unlike busy highways, these quiet country roads allow cyclists to immerse themselves in the landscape. Traffic is generally light, making the experience both peaceful and enjoyable. Of course, no Naturally L&A Gravel Ride would be complete without the famous rest stops. These are far more than simple water stations. Volunteers welcome riders with enthusiasm and provide an incredible selection of refreshments. Fresh fruit, baked goods, snacks, and plenty of hydration options help keep energy levels high throughout the day. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the rest stops is the atmosphere. Many feature live music, creating a festive environment that encourages riders to relax, socialize, and recharge before continuing their journey. The combination of local hospitality, delicious treats, and music makes every stop feel like a celebration. Events like this don't happen without dedicated volunteers. From registration and route marking to food preparation and rider support, countless people work behind the scenes to ensure everyone has a safe and memorable experience. Their efforts are a major reason why riders return year after year. As the kilometres add up, the sense of accomplishment grows. The route challenges riders just enough while rewarding them with spectacular scenery and a welcoming community atmosphere. Whether you're an experienced gravel cyclist or simply looking for a fun outdoor adventure, the Naturally L&A Gravel Ride offers something special. After 53 kilometres of cycling through farms, forests, streams, marshlands, and picturesque rural communities, we return to Centreville with tired legs, great memories, and plenty of stories to share.
