We Caught a Tagged Swordfish... and the Data Was Wild

We headed offshore in Louisiana with one goal: complete the ultimate Gulf trifecta. Three fish. One trip. The plan sounded simple on paper... catch a yellowfin tuna, a swordfish, and a wahoo all in the same day. But as every angler knows, the Gulf doesn't always cooperate. After putting a tuna in the boat, we made the run offshore to target one of the most mysterious fish in the ocean—a daytime swordfish over 1,500 feet deep. What happened next was something none of us had ever seen before. The swordfish we caught had a tag still embedded in its body. After reporting the tag and waiting for the data to come back, we discovered where the fish was originally caught, how big it was when tagged, how far it had traveled, and just how much it had grown over the years. The results were incredible. Join us as we chase an ambitious offshore slam, battle giant fish from the depths, and uncover the story of a rare tagged swordfish that had been swimming with a secret for more than four years. 📍 Fishing with Captain Josh: Calcutta Gold Fishing Charters- 504-912-5525 📸 Follow Along: Instagram: @Randall_Shaw_ TikTok: @Randall_Shaw_ Facebook: Randall Shaw Fishing Adventures: Subscribe for weekly offshore fishing, inshore fishing, travel, boating, and adventure content. #Swordfish #Fishing #LouisianaFishing #OffshoreFishing #YellowfinTuna #WahooFishing #FishingAdventure #TaggedFish #DeepDropFishing #RandallShaw
