SolidWorks II Sheet Metal II Bend Allowance K Factor (Design Considerations) in SolidWorks. Sheet Metal Fabrication is the process of forming parts from a metal sheet by punching, cutting, stamping, and bending. Sheet metal is one of the most versatile and widely used manufacturing methods. In this Video, I am going to explain on sheet metal design considerations such as wall thickness, bend radii, bend allowance, bend deduction and K Factor. Also I am going to explain on derivation of bend allowance. The K Factor in sheet metal working is the ratio of the neutral axis to the material thickness. K Factor changes its value with respect to physical properties and thickness of materials. Generic values for K Factor varies from 0.33 to 0.5. The Bend Allowance is defined as the material to add to the actual leg lengths of the part to develop a flat pattern. When the sheet metal is put through the process of bending the metal around, the bend is deformed and stretched. This elongation can be calculated from the below formula of which Bend Allowance is a function of Material Thickness (T), the Bend Angle (A), the Inside Radius (R) , and the K Factor (K). ***Bend Allowance (BA) = A *π/180 ( R + KT), where K = t/T The Bend Deduction is defined as the material that needs to to be removed from the total length of your flanges to arrive at the flat pattern. When trying to develop a flat pattern, the deduction has to be subtracted to get its overall length. **Bend Deduction = 2*OSSB - BA Sheet metals are generally classified as metal sheets that have a thickness ranging from 0.4 mm to 6 mm. Different metals such as Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Brass, Nickel, Titanium can be made into sheets by rolling process. Sheet metals are widely used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronic appliance, construction, etc. **************************************************************************** You Can Support My Channel MechCADical Tutorial For More Videos On Solidworks YouTube: / @mechcadicaltutorial For Business Enquiry, Plz Contact me: [email protected] Connect With Me Instagram : / mechcadical.tutorial Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...
