Pumula Road Rehabilitation Faces Delays Despite Private Funding| Fix My City
Residents of Pumula suburb in Bulawayo have welcomed the rehabilitation of sections of Ngena and Mqabuko roads, a project funded by Chinese-owned Hualin Quarry Mine under its corporate social responsibility programme. While Hualin has supplied construction materials and funded specialised road works, residents say delays by the Bulawayo City Council, which is responsible for providing labour, are slowing progress. They fear the prolonged delays could drive up project costs and undermine the initiative.
