Bachmann’s latest Class 08 Branchline model is a fully redesigned locomotive from the wheels up—unaided by any previous tooling—marking a major upgrade over the original 2000 Blue Riband releases It features die‑cast chassis, precision injection‑moulded body with separately applied metal grab handles and etched detail, offering countless variations reflecting real prototype detail differences thanks to a flexible tooling suite. Underneath, the model boasts a five‑pole motor with flywheel, sprung centre axle, and all‑wheel pickup for smooth slow‑speed running and excellent haulage—ideal for shunting layouts. Lighting is state‑of‑the‑art, with up to six individually switchable lights per end plus cab lighting controllable via analogue or DCC, including working shunting lights. For DCC users, Bachmann has integrated a PluX22 socket under a removable roof panel, along with a factory‑fitted speaker in SOUND FITTED and SOUND FITTED DELUXE variants. These also include the Bach‑Up stay‑alive system to prevent stalling or flicker over poor track, and the Deluxe versions add an Auto‑Release Coupling system for hands‑free uncoupling at your command. All in all, this new Bachmann Class 08 is a high‑spec, prototypically accurate and technologically advanced model well suited to collectors and operators alike.
