National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has spoken out regarding the detention status of Roy Suryo and Doctor Tifa in the alleged fake diploma case involving the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. As quoted by Tribunnews, the National Police Chief emphasized that detention authority now rests with the prosecutor's office after the National Police completed the second phase of the transfer. This statement was made by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 23, 2026). The National Police Chief emphasized that the entire series of investigations against the two suspects have been completed by the police. Previously, the National Police had carried out the second phase of the transfer to the prosecutor's office. This process included the handover of case files, evidence, and the suspects to the public prosecutor. According to him, all obligations of National Police investigators in this case have been completed. He explained that the second phase is part of the administrative procedures in handling criminal cases. "What is clear from us is that the National Police have fulfilled our obligation to hand over the second phase," he said. "The second phase of the transfer relates to the administrative handover related to the investigation and the handover of the suspects," he explained. Regarding the suspect's request for a suspension of detention, the National Police Chief emphasized that this was no longer within the police's jurisdiction. He stated that after the transfer of custody, the authority to detain rests entirely with the Public Prosecutor. Therefore, decisions regarding detention or suspension are now within the prosecutor's jurisdiction.
