Her name is Ornella, she's 32 years old and comes from Palermo. She suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes partial or total loss of hair all over her body. For the girl, it started out as simple alopecia areata, but at the age of 5 it turned into alopecia universalis. It was like feeling different, being watched every day, and not accepting herself. At 8, Ornella lost all her hair, ultimately becoming completely bald. She tried every treatment: the first was Krebs therapy, then cryotherapy, then acupuncture, and acid, but seeing no results, she decided to give up and surrender to her alopecia. This condition created in her a sense of rejection for who she was and her world. Today, Ornella runs a Facebook page called Alopecia&co with the aim of providing self-help, that is, simple psychological support for those who, like her, need support and assistance. Ornella has abandoned all forms of therapy and focused on herself.
