In this episode, we work with The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, one of Aesop’s best-known fables, using the classic public-domain English translation by George Fyler Townsend. This short story is ideal for learners who want beginner-friendly British Accent Shadowing with clear narrative English, simple contrasts, and a memorable moral. 🎯 Approximate CEFR level: A2–B1 This passage is well suited to elementary and lower-intermediate learners who want to practise authentic English without the complexity of longer classic novels. The contrast between the town mouse and the country mouse makes it useful for practising clear pronunciation, connected speech, intonation, and natural storytelling rhythm in Standard Southern British English. If you’re working at a different C-E-F-R level, I have lots of British English shadowing videos at other levels in this series — you’ll find the link in the description below. You’ll first hear me read the passage at a natural pace. Then we break it down line by line so you can shadow, repeat after me, and develop fluency, clarity, rhythm, and spoken confidence. Shadowing is one of the most effective ways to internalise the rhythm and sound patterns of British English. By listening and speaking along, you practise stress, vowel reduction, connected speech, intonation, and natural phrasing all at once. ✔️ Ideal for A2–B1 learners of British English ✔️ Helpful for ESL speakers, families, and beginner shadowing practice ✔️ Focus on British accent, connected speech, rhythm, intonation, and reading aloud 📚 Resources 📥 Download the free PDF of today’s passage(with key vocabulary notes) →https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/rco4i8... 🌐 Learn more →https://www.ashleyhoward.me 🔔 Subscribe for more British Accent Shadowing episodes and pronunciation training. 💛 Support the channel by becoming a member → / @ashleyhowardvoicecoach
