On the contrary, there is even more work to be done starting now to prepare for the next bloom and next year's roses. The first thing you must do after the roses have faded is deadheading, or removing withered flowers. If withered flowers are left as they are, the roses use the nutrients to produce fruit and seeds. To grow healthy next flowers and new branches, it is best to cut off the withered flowers at the appropriate location before seed pods form. In this video, we explain when and where to prune roses, and why deadheading is necessary, using actual roses from Cafe Flower Dome. Along with pruning, another essential step is nutrient replenishment. Roses use a significant amount of energy while producing a large number of flowers. After the flowers fade, the depleted nutrients must be replenished so that new branches can grow healthily and the plant can prepare for the next bloom. At Cafe Flower Dome, we practice the "3-6-9 Fertilization Management" to keep our roses healthy. In March, we replenish nutrients in preparation for spring blooming; in June, we replenish the energy consumed after the first roses have faded; and in September, we monitor the recovery status of the trees ahead of autumn blooming and winter, performing necessary maintenance. However, the amount of fertilizer must be adjusted according to the plant's condition, the ingredients of the product, and the soil environment. It is important to use an appropriate amount of fully fermented organic fertilizer rather than applying excessive amounts near the roots. Cafe Flower Dome is currently wrapping up its spectacular first rose season and preparing for the next season by clearing away the withered flowers.
