Here are summary of the steps / procedure: To remove the passenger side CV axle on a 10th Gen Civic, lift the car, remove the wheel, and the large axle nut (use a friend to press brakes for leverage). Then, detach the lower ball joint (3x 17mm bolts), separate it from the knuckle, and carefully pry the axle out from the transmission using a pry bar or slide hammer, catching any fluid, and pulling the outer end from the hub to fully remove it. Step 1: Prepare the vehicle and remove the wheel Lift and support the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the wheel Remove the axle nut: Use an impact wrench to remove the large axle nut. If you don't have one, you may be able to loosen it with a breaker bar before lifting the car, but it will likely require a strong impact gun. Loosely re-install the nut: Put the axle nut back on a few threads upside down. This will protect the threads from hammer damage when you knock the axle free from the hub. Step 2: Disconnect suspension and steering Optional: Remove strut bolts Disconnect the ball joint: Pry the lower ball joint or tie rod end to separate it from the steering knuckle. Move the knuckle: Pivot the knuckle assembly forward and/or outward to create enough space to slide the axle out of the hub. Step 3: Remove the CV axle Pop the inner joint from the transmission: Use a pry bar to firmly pry the inner CV joint out of the transmission or intermediate shaft. Be careful not to damage the seal. Remove the axle: Once it is free from both ends, slide the CV axle assembly out of the wheel well and remove it from the vehicle. 10th generations Civic which covers model years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 two and four doors coupe and hatchback regardless of whether 1.5L Turbo or 2.0L engine.
