They are located in the immediate vicinity of the individual organs (so-called 'organ-near') and distributed throughout the body (so-called 'peripheral'). They are connected by the lymphatic vessels, which transport the lymph fluid (so-called 'lymph'). The lymph nodes are part of our immune system. They are also called sentinel organs and have two basic functions: 1.
