🇵🇹 Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) is one of the most important Portuguese writers of modernism and one of the greatest poets in the Portuguese language. Pessoa stood out in poetry, with the creation of his heteronyms, being considered a multifaceted figure. He worked as a literary critic, political critic, editor, journalist, advertising executive, businessman, and astrologer. He died in his hometown on November 30, 1935, a victim of cirrhosis of the liver, at the age of 47. On his deathbed, his last sentence was written in English, dated November 29, 1935: “I know not what tomorrow will bring.” The mortal remains of Fernando Pessoa were transferred on June 13, 1988, exactly on the day that marked the centenary of the poet's birth. He was exhumed from the Prazeres Cemetery and transferred to the Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon, where he came to rest alongside other great figures in Portuguese history.
