Steel Division: Normandy 44: British Campaign - Mission 4: Over The Hill and Far Away

The final mission is a take and hold one, similar to the first mission, except this time, you have to hold for 20 minutes. There are 3 approaches possible, through the left, center, or right. I recommend either the left or center approach as the left has close spawn points and the center is surprisingly easy to push through. No matter your choice, be aware that the troops from the other sections will make their way towards you and either engage you as you push or set up defenses on the hill, or join the final attack. You can keep a small rear guard to prevent flanking maneuvers and it should be fine. Once you take the hill, you have 5 minutes to set up defenses before the enemy convoys spawn in. You could take the risk of trying to secure the spawn points on the hill's flanks, but if you fail to do so within this time limit, your forces will walk straight into massive armored convoys heading towards the hill. Either way, the spawn points the enemies use are random, but they prefer the ones closest to the hill. The forces coming your way include many mechanized infantry columns along with armored recon cars, command vehicles, howitzers, infantry support guns, tanks, AA of various caliber, and the remnants of the original hill defenders. The game warns you of incoming tank buster planes, but they usually never show up due to how many points the ai spends on ground troops. It looks like a lot at first, but everything they send is in limited numbers and they will run out after a while. You can ambush the convoys as they come if you position AT guns in the Hedgerows near the top, but be aware that they will be destroyed when they bring up their howitzers and support guns. You can also bomb the convoys with Mosquito Pathfinders and Typhoon AT. The napalm bombs are quite good at killing off the mechanized infantry and the AT rockets are highly effective against vehicles with low armor. Beware the FW 190s circling the hill from time to time, the Möbelwagens that come with some convoys, and the 2 Flak 41s they bring up. Other than that, keep your defense in depth and try to draw them into close range. It is your only way to really destroy that King Tiger they send as you will want to fix it in place at range with a 17-pdr and shoot it from the side. You can send your own armored convoys to break through towards the hill and flank the attackers as well. They can sometimes shoot incoming tanks from the rear, but don't count on it. If things get really desperate, you can put a stealthy infantry squad right in the middle of the wooded area near the center of the hill where I put a Bren Group. If you kill off all the incoming infantry and get rid of their recon planes, there is no way for them to ever identify that squad, meaning you cannot lose the mission as you have 1 unit inside the objective radius.
