Robert Pack: An Athlete Like DERRICK ROSE or JOHN WALL who also COULDN’T ESCAPE injuries | FPP
Throughout the 1990s, Robert Pack was one of the highest flying little men the league had to offer and overall one of it’s most exciting players. He could jump higher and run faster than most, and if you blinked, he would blow past you. He had to fight to get to the NBA as there weren’t many willing to take a chance. But he would eventually spend two good years with the USC Trojans alongside Harold Miner, before working his way onto a Clyde Drexler led Portland Trailblazers team who made it all the way to the NBA Finals. After this, he would really make a name for himself playing in Denver alongside Dikembe Mutombo and MAhmoud Abdul Rauf; as during these years he would nearly win the 1994 dunk contest, and play a huge role in the Nuggets upset over the Seattle Supersonics in the ’94 NBA Playoffs. He was reaching his peak in 1996 with the Chris Webber led Washington Bullets, but then injuries would arise; and they would never go away. He would have a home for a bit with the Dallas Mavericks, but was rarely healthy enough to play and was eventually phased out as Dallas brought in Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash. He would stick around the NBA until 2004, as he was still one of it’s top athletes even into his mid 30s. Robert Pack could wow you and leave you shaking your head. He was a highlight machine and a sparkplug off the bench, but could be just as much of a liability with his propensity for turnovers and poor shot selection. But Robert Pack at the very least, was one of the most exciting yet overlooked players of his era, and could be considered one of the pioneers of the modern point guard. https://www.basketball-reference.com/...
