Hulda Crooks | Elderly Mountain Climber | Mt Whitney | report for NBC News
This is a report I filed for NBC News while shooting a documentary on Hulda Crooks, an 85 year old mountain climber. Our three man crew climbed to the top of Mt. Whitney with her and also spent some time with her in and around her home in Loma Linda, California as she trained for the annual climb. Shot in 1981. Mt. Whitney is the tallest peak in the lower 48 United States and was last measured at 14,500 feet but officially was recognized as being 14,496 feet at the time of this production. It is located in central California near the town of Lone Pine just off of highway 395.
