Gateshead Flyover A167 Demolition #13 June 2026

2½ months in and the 5 bridges roundabout demolition well under way although this closure will be creating more traffic disruption and chaos for 3-4 weeks. Gateshead council could probably help more by at least re-opening Askew road again and the High Street bus only lane direct onto the Tyne Bridge, especially when the contractors start on the Park Lane roundabout and alleviate more town centre congestion and air pollution! Meanwhile the flyover which carried an estimated 40.000 vehicles per day is still diverted either through Gateshead town centre or the western by-pass!
