50lbs MONSTER fossil crab prep with commentary - 208 hours - 12 million year old giganteus crab
A huge number of people have been asking questions about this fossil crab and wanted me to do a commentary on the prep, I hope this answers some of the questions! It started off at 50lbs (23kg) and ended up weighing about 17lbs (8 kg) in the end. The crab species is an extinct Tumidocarcinus giganteus crab which used to live in deep water off the coast of New Zealand when the water was quite a bit warmer than it is today.
