Sad end: Missing Mojalefa (3) found in dam
Tragedy in Tshepisong: Community's Worst Fears Confirmed The four-day search for three-year-old Mojalefa Savhuli ended in heartbreak Thursday morning when his small body was discovered floating in a dam near Harmony Gold Mine in Roodepoort. What began as a desperate community effort to find a missing child with autism has transformed into grief and outrage. The toddler, last seen Sunday afternoon at a sports field wearing his distinctive green shorts and yellow jersey, was found by a group of boys heading to a nearby soccer field with their coach. "We woke up that morning and, as usual, checked in on the child's mother," recounts community member Lungile Mtshali, who rushed to the scene with Mojalefa's father after receiving a disturbing photo via voice note. "There was no doubt. Mojalefa's eyes were no longer there, and I couldn't clearly make out what was happening around his mouth. It looked like either his mouth or tongue had been cut." These disturbing details have intensified community suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the child's death. "Helicopters searched this area on Tuesday but found nothing," says Dineo Phatsoane, who helped coordinate search efforts. "Whoever took that child clearly had intentions to kill. Mojalefa couldn't speak much. If someone meant no harm, they would have brought him back." The discovery has further strained relations between police and the Tshepisong community, who have criticized what they describe as a delayed and insufficient official response. "The police only showed up in numbers today," Dineo added bitterly. "We don't want them here now. We found this child on our own without their help." Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed an inquest docket has been opened, with a post-mortem pending to determine whether drowning or foul play was involved. As the Savhuli family begins funeral preparations for a child who will never grow up, a community is left wondering how a toddler's innocent attempt to follow his cousins ended in such devastating tragedy. #JusticeForMojalefa #RIPMojalefa #tshepisong #childsafety #communityjustice #autismawareness #SouthAfricaCrimes #MissingChildFound #TragedyStrikesFamily #policeaccountability #communitystrength #InvestigationDemanded #RoodepoortDam #childprotection #ThreeYearOldFound #heartbreakingnews
