The world around us: what traces of history can you see on the street?
In this video series, created for upper-grade elementary school students, children and experts explore the traces of the colonial past of the Netherlands and Indonesia: on the streets, in culture, music, the archives, and, of course, food. Meet urban influencer Rizky, who shares a lot online and talks about the city and its history. For example, there are many 'Indische Buurten' in the Netherlands, with streets named after Indonesian islands. He takes you on a tour of Amsterdam, past streets and buildings that have a connection to this past. What do these traces tell us about colonial history, and why is it important to know more about this?
