Anyone passing by number 59 on Felipe de Oliveira Street, in the Petrópolis neighborhood of Porto Alegre, might think the building houses only the Fire Department. After all, the wall was recently painted a bright red, and across the street is the General Command of the corporation. In reality, the building is a school: the Paulo Freire State Center for Youth and Adult Education (Neeja), more specifically. A state school that shares space with the fire department and, therefore, is having its classrooms reduced by half. Furthermore, it is donating part of its library collection because the space for books has also become too small.
