Не печатают мед? Качать или ждать?
Honey not being sealed? Extract or wait? The beekeeper's biggest question! 🐝 Many beekeepers face this problem: the honey flow is over, the frames are full, but the bees are slow to seal them. Can this honey be extracted, or will it sour right in the jars? In this video, we'll explore all the reasons and test honey for maturity right in the apiary. In this video, you'll learn: ✅ Why bees leave cells open (even if the honey is ready). ✅ The role of colony strength: why weak colonies are slow to seal. ✅ The ultimate test: how to tell in 5 seconds whether unsealed honey can be extracted. ✅ The golden rule: how many frames should ideally be sealed. In short: Reasons: Bees don't seal cells if they are not completely full or the colony lacks the strength to complete the work. Even mature honey can remain open during a low flow. How to test: Turn the frame horizontally and tap it sharply with your hand. If nectar doesn't squirt out in drops, the honey is ready to be extracted. When to start: A 100% sealed frame is ideal. Acceptable sealing is when the comb is at least 3/4 sealed and the flow has already begun to decline. Share in the comments: What percentage of sealing do you wait for before the first extraction? 00:00 — Welcome and overview of the current situation at the apiary (heat, preparation for winter). 01:18 — Observing sunflower bloom and bee behavior in the heat. 03:26 — Answering the question: Why isn't the honey sealed? Main reasons (colony drop, nectar shortage, strong flow). 05:37 — When does nectar become full-fledged honey (processing cycle). 6:42 — Visual methods for determining honey maturity without a refractometer. 7:39 — Finding and marking young queens. 9:02 — Working with wax foundation: when and how to insert it into the nest. 10:00 — What to do with a weak colony attacked by moths. Using "spare" colonies. 12:12 — Strengthening the colony with sealed brood. 14:14 — The importance of carefully examining the channel materials. 15:10 — Is it worth extracting honey from the nest? Organizing work with supers. 16:21 — What to do if bees flood the dry area but don't pull the wax foundation. 17:42 — Comparing the strength of different colonies using the example of developing supers. 20:42 — "Beekeeping Arithmetic": the importance of calculations and knowledge of colony biology for the main honey flow. 10:54 PM — Best wishes to colleagues and wrapping up. #beekeeping #apiary #honey #honeyextraction #bees #beekeepertips #AnatoliyStrelec
