Shiny Stockings-Harry James w/Sonny Payne Sept 1970

Sonny Payne was the drummer on the classic 1956 recording of Frank Foster's "Shiny Stockings" with Count Basie. How many times must have Sonny play those fills with a Big Band? Here Harry James and his Orchestra play a shortened version of "Shiny Stockings," with Sonny Payne's fills intact. On the Harry James version of "Shiny Stockings," the lead trumpet part was in the third trumpet book. Third trumpet player Skip Stine, looks to see if Harry is going to take the lead. As he does.
