Universally known as ‘Flott’, she has built up a great international reputation as both an opera singer and concert artist, but her love belongs to the song repertoire. Flott’s programme for this "Voices Of Our Time" recital recording includes a selection of French, German and English songs on the theme of night and day, each by a different composer. Ravel, Debussy, Satie, Saint-Saëns, Fauré, Wolf, Strauss, Mahler, Vaughan Williams, Bridge and Ireland are among those featured. The pieces she has chosen, together with pianist Graham Johnson, are all at the lighter end of the spectrum, ranging from the beautifully sentimental to the slightly naughty. Graham Johnson has been Felicity Lott's regular accompanist since their student days at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Both she and Graham Johnson talk about their choice of songs for this recital and their musical partnership in short, informal interviews which punctuate the live recording of their performance.
