The Bill Evans Solo Every Jazz Pianist Should Study | Summertime (BBC London 1965)

Bill Evans' solo on Summertime, performed live with the Bill Evans Trio for the BBC's Jazz 625 broadcast in London on 19 March 1965. This video features a complete transcription and performance of the solo, presented with synchronised notation and keyboard visualisation. One thing that stood out while transcribing this performance was Evans' incredible sense of space. The phrases feel remarkably deliberate, with each idea given room to breathe. The relationship between the hands is also fascinating. What initially sounds loose and independent is actually highly connected and carefully organised. This video combines transcription overlays, breakdown sections and piano demonstrations exploring some of the harmonic and rhythmic language used throughout the solo. Featuring: Bill Evans – Piano Chuck Israels – Bass Larry Bunker – Drums 🎹 Full transcription available: https://tuccikeys.com/product/bill-ev...
