If you name it… the right-wing parties immediately jump on it. Associating an entire community with such a heinous crime” creates deep difficulties. The scandal has had “a very bad, very deep” impact on race relations that has extended internationally. Hindu nationalist channels in India, he noted, have linked the UK cases to narratives of “love jihad” in India, folding incidents into broader political messaging. Drawing on his involvement in post-riot work after the 2022 Leicester clashes, Dr Sinha offered practical observations. Generational gaps between youth and elders are significant. Social media requires better regulation to curb hate and disinformation.
