Four years ago, Russian troops captured Popasna, a small town in the Luhansk region. They captured it, leaving it virtually in ruins. And the occupation authorities still haven't decided what to do with the town? Rebuild it or abandon it? Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin recently admitted that the Popasna issue remains open. According to him, some residents are returning to the town and asking for help, at least with housing repairs. But Moscow is setting a condition: first, let more residents return, and then we'll talk about reconstruction. It sounds like a vicious circle. People aren't returning because they have nowhere to live. And the town won't be rebuilt until its residents return. A town of 20,000 residents has been reduced to ruins, with only 250 remaining. There are no plans to rebuild it. There's no rush to relocate the residents. However, there's already an idea to turn these ruins into a tourist attraction. Popasna was a vibrant town. Now they want to turn it into a stage set.
