You Are Not Late | Inaya Zia | TEDxIGBIS Youth
Sitting in class overhearing classmates talk about their futures, Inaya realised she had no idea what she wanted, and that feeling of being left behind is something she argues is deeply misunderstood. Drawing on the psychology of social comparison and the neuroscience of how our brains process progress, she makes the case that feeling behind is not evidence that you are failing. It is just evidence that you are human. Hi! My name is Inaya Zia, and I’m a Grade 9 student studying at IGBIS. Growing up in a society where comparison and achievement were everywhere, I became truly interested in the psychology of why people feel like they are “behind” in life even when they are doing just fine. I decided to join Ted-X because I knew I could create a lasting impact because of its power to shift perspectives and start meaningful conversations. My goal is to remind people that progress isn’t linear and that everyone moves through life at their own pace. By understanding the reasoning behind this feeling, I hope to help others feel less alone and a little more at peace with where they are. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
