Informal settlements are described as "illegal settlements" according to the government of South Africa under the leadership of African National Congress. Yet they give people a place to stay whilst they're waiting for houses to be built for them by the government and usually houses are built a year or two before the National Elections. They also give people a form dignity. The land used to belong to the Brenner family, which owns a lot of unused land in the area. After the head of the family died, the family members who inherited the land moved abroad. The land was unused until 2016. Juju Valley forms part of the 7 cardinal pillars of the Economic Freedom Fighters namely, land expropriated without compensation. The land is yet to be developed by the Economic Freedom Fighter. It is said it will be developed once they're in power for now the ANC which is in power in Limpopo doesn't recognise it. The settlement is in the backyard of the township the leader of the EFF grew in called Seshego Zone 1. It is named after Julius Malema. According to the leadership of EFF the land should be used as an example for other famers who have hectors of unused land The term "Aluta Continua" means the struggle goes on for black people. This film is inspired by Zoe Modiga's song called ABANTU, which basically says that black people do not deserve the poverty they're subjected to.
