Filmed at Elliott and on Newcastle Waters Station, Alice Springs and surrounds, Northern Territory, Australia. Elliott is a song about home. It’s about the importance of family, particularly to the indigenous people, however, at its core, Elliott is about Janet Sandy - Gregory, the Mother of Stuart Joel Nuggett and the last Female Jingili elder to speak, read and write in the Jingili language. Jingili is slowly being lost to history and the song was also written in an attempt to remind not only Australians of this important part of our heritage, it was also Stuart and Janet’s plea to their Jingili brothers and sisters, Aunties and Uncles, please, don’t lose our language, learn it, maintain it and share our story. The broader message with the song Elliott, is Australia simply can't afford to lose any of its indigenous languages. We want to thank Janet Gregory for her support and her guidance and knowledge of the Jingili language and Elliott in this project. Thanks also to Aunty Elaine, for looking after us all in Elliott during the filming of the Music Video. * * * * * * * * * * * * * LYRICS (ELLIOTT) Halfway between, Darwin and Alice, Kulumindini is, important to dreaming, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Jingili people, so happy and proud, lift up your voices, Come on shout out loud, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) It doesn’t matter if your big or your small Our town our community matters that’s all What we lack in numbers we make up in pride, We do, so you, come to Halfway between, Darwin and Alice, Kulumindini is, important to dreaming, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Jingili people, so happy and proud, lift up your voices, Come on shout out loud, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Travelling up north all the colours will change, The tropical feeling and desert it fades The top end is calling but now you remain right here, you’re here, Halfway between, Darwin and Alice, Kulumindini is, important to dreaming, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Jingili people, so happy and proud, lift up your voices, Come on shout out loud, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Durrla, Jarbarka part of the land, Janet speaks Jingili, the last Elder to understand Jingili, Warlpiri, Warumungu, Mudburra, Warlmanpa, Janet she knew The language connect us to dreaming and land, culture too, So you, learn it too Halfway between, Darwin and Alice, Kulumindini is, important to dreaming, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Halfway between, Darwin and Alice, Kulumindini is, important to dreaming, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) Jingili people, so happy and proud, lift up your voices, Come on shout out loud, it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow) it’s Elliott, (Kulumindini Kngow)
