DJ Solitare's Retro Goa Explorations, Episode 165 - Etnica: Merkaba

The 165th episode in my Retro Goa Explorations series of videos in which I present some of my favourite 'Goa Trance' tracks from the '90s. In this series, I go back to my first experiences in the Goa Trance electronic dance music movement starting in late 1994, drawing upon my recollections of hearing specific music at certain events and using my classical music background explore the elements that I believe make these tracks so great. We are currently exploring music that I encountered or got my hands on (or that was released) in the '98-99 season, and this is a stunning slow-burn scorcher from that time, at a slower bpm that really builds tension incredibly, with every single level - harmonic, rhythmic, melodic - striking through to the core: Etnica's Merkaba. After I share a bit of background about the track, and a few musings about the importance of slower music like this, I play the music while sharing my observations; after some closing remarks, I present the track again without commentary.
