Gold Coast Light Rail Project Explained
G:Link is a light rail line in the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise. The project was first founded in 2002 and the first draft came out in 2004. In 2010, stage 1 started construction between Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach South and was completed in 2014. With the success of Stage 1, planning for Stage 2 started in 2016 and construction started late 2016 between Helensvale and Gold Coast University Hospital. Construction finished early and the first passenger service started in late 2017. Construction for Stage 3 is now nearing completion as of October 2024 for the extension between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads.
