PADDLE & PUB EP. 2: River Ouse | Barcombe Mills to The Anchor

Join us on Episode 2 of our Paddle and Pub series along River Ouse, finishing our trip off at The Anchor. 📍 Location: Croft ham, Barcombe Mills, Lewes, BN8 5BT 🛶 Distance: 2miles/3.2km out and back ⏳ Time Needed: 2 hours to enjoy the river and pub 💰 Rough Cost: £20 (free parking, the rest depending on your pub purchases) 🌊 Level: Beginner 🪪 License: Not needed The overall route was calm and relaxed, but it's worth mentioning that trees and vegetation were obstructing parts of the river. This did, however, make the Paddle more interesting as we maneuvered ourselves around various obstacles. The river also splits in half partway through, with one route being much narrower and shallower. This just added a sense of adventure to the journey! Although, caution is needed if your kayak has fins attached. The Pub was hidden away from the main road and had a cozy old Pub feel, with a nice open fire welcoming you in. It also had a range of food options - luckily, the staff were able to add a side of gravy to our cheesy chips, to Nicole's delight! They offer a boating service to travel up the river as well - this is located around the back. Paddle Rating: 3.5/5 🚣‍♀️ Pub Rating: 4.5/5 🍻 - An extra 0.5 for the makeshift poutine!
